Crookes Radiometer, also known as a solar engine, is a mesmerising and simple gizmo that is powered by light energy.

A glass bulb encases four vanes in a vacuum. Shine light on the bulb and watch the black sides of the vanes spin away from the light which the white sides move towards it.

Put it in bright sunlight and watch it spin at high speeds!
