AntWorks is based on a 2003 NASA Space Shuttle experiment to study animal life in space.

The tank comes packed with a non-toxic gel which contains all the moisture and nutrients your ant colony needs to survive.

The gel is designed to encourage the ants to build their own network of tunnels, and because it's transparent, you'll get to watch their every move. Ant architecture isn't limited to the tunnels either, some ants will also use ‘building blocks’ created from the gel to line the walls and form hills on the surface.

Ants! Please note that the AntWorks pack does not include ants. You will need to collect ants out and about in the garden. If you find that you are short of ants, a mail-in coupon is enclosed in the pack to allow you to send off for ants. There is a P&P charge for this service.

If you choose a particularly small type of ant, you may want to seal off the air holes to stop them going walk-about. Removing the lid occasionally will give them the fresh air they need.
